Giving away a bunch of books. Seriously, hit me up if you’re in Kalamazoo, MI and want a look at the list. I’m moving soon, and refuse to take all of them with me.
It’s as good a time as any to sort out which ones I never intend on reading, which ones I’ve got ebooks for should I ever get around to reading them, and which ones I can’t live without.
I put up a note on Facebook and tagged as many local friends as I could, and put a time limit: August 10th, everything left gets donated. There was a flurry of response from a few dedicated book hoarders within the first half hour. About half of the books are already boxed up to go tomorrow.
Sabby says: “You are a good mother. Making sure that your babies find homes.”
It’s true. I feel more nervous about giving away books than I do about my cat getting outside. He’ll come back when he’s hungry.
I’m glad to be rid of them, though. I’ve had so many, many books lining my walls for years, and I’d just keep piling them on. They’d gotten to be a depressing reminder of how little time I have to sit and read them all.
